I’ve always loved dogs, they’ve been part of my life for as long as I can remember. But when I finally got my own dog, Marley, everything changed. He wasn’t just a pet, he was my responsibility, my companion, and I wanted to do everything right for him.
Like so many new dog owners, I signed up for a puppy class, thinking it was the best place to start. But instead of feeling supported, I felt overwhelmed. The methods used didn’t sit right with me, they felt too forceful, and I could see Marley wasn’t comfortable. I remember leaving those sessions feeling unsure, disheartened, and questioning if I was doing the right thing.
So I made a decision.
I chose to walk away, and to find a better way.
That moment was the start of a completely different journey. I became determined to truly understand Marley, not just train him, but to understand how he felt, how he learned, and what he needed from me. I invested in my education, diving into force-free, science-based, and ethical training, learning how to build confidence rather than fear, and connection rather than control.
And everything changed.
Not just for Marley, but for me too.
Through patience, kindness, and the right approach, I saw how powerful training could be when it’s done with empathy and understanding.
Now, through Marley & Me, I support other owners who feel exactly how I once felt, overwhelmed, unsure, and just wanting to do the best for their dog. Whether you have a new puppy or a dog struggling with reactivity, you’re not alone.
This isn’t about “perfect” dogs.
It’s about building trust, confidence, and a relationship that feels good, for both of you . No harsh methods. No judgement.
Just kind, modern training that truly makes a difference 🤍
